Definition

A type of Process Map that shows work flow with decision points and if/then logic. It is used as a graphical representation of the procedures and decision-making routines involved in a process. Some of the commonly used symbols used to create a flow chart are shown alongside.

Using flow charts can help to:
- Facilitate a better understanding of the process
- Identify redundant process activities and
- Foster teamwork and communication
