Definition
The lower specification limit (LSL) is the smallest allowable value of the process/product output for that output to be acceptable. It can be specified by the customer, engineering or management.
Examples
If the specifications for the length of a copper wire are given as, say, (12 +/- 0.5) inches, then the lower specification is the smaller of the two numbers (12 - 0.5 = 11.5, 12 + 0.5 = 12.5), i.e., LSL = 11.5 inches.
