Definition

Partial automation relying on human interaction, such as "articulating arms" that bear the weight of a part and which are guided into position by humans. More simple, flexible, and inexpensive than full computer-controlled automation. Autonomation leverages the power of machinery and human judgment and intelligence to produce zero Defects and therefore, is an important tool in Lean initiatives.
