Definition

A line graph used to chart series of data over time. The X-axis represents the time variable and the Y-axis shows the characteristic of interest. Although this is the basic set up, the chart may be enhanced to show extra information, such as the Target line or major events of change which might be influencing the process. Trend charts are used to show trends in process behavior over a period of time. Also known as the Run chart.
