Inferential Statistics

Definition

The set of statistical techniques used to make inferences about certain characteristics (such as the mean) of one or more Populations, constitute the branch of statistics known as Inferential statistics. These techniques, which include hypothesis testing, Anova and regression analyses and designs of experiments, are based on random sampling from the population of interest in order to extend the conclusions beyond the sample to the population itself.
