Definition

A person who conducts Six Sigma projects on a part-time basis. Green Belt training can be obtained from a variety of sources, but is typically less than 100 hours in duration and includes instruction in use of basic statistical data analysis and designed experiments, with more emphasis on team problem-solving techniques.

Variations of the Green Belt designation include Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, DFSS Green Belt, and DMAIC Green Belt. Green Belt certification is offered by numerous consulting firms and companies deploying Six Sigma, and ASQ is also developing a Green Belt certification process.
