Nominal Data

Definition

Data that are formed by assigning the sample Units to one of several categories or groups. Any ordering among such categories is purely arbitrary. For example, employees of an organization may be grouped by departments coded as Accounting =1, IT = 2, Human Resources = 3 etc., but the numbers are simply labels and do not represent any ordering between the groups.
