Definition

The mode is a measure of the central tendency of a distribution. It represents the value with the highest chance of being selected in a probability distribution and appears as the 'peak' in a graph of the distribution. In a sample data set it is the value which occurs most frequently. The mode need not necessarily be unique, for e.g. bi-modal distributions have two modes or peaks.

Examples

The mode of this data set is 4.
