Definition

A single unit of a manufacturing or transactional process output containing one or more Defects.

Examples

1. In a circuit-board assembly process, each circuit board with a soldering defect or wrong components is a defective.

2. In an insurance claims processing facility, the specification is that every claim must be processed within 10 hours. Any claim taking over the specified time is deemd a 'defective'.
